Packing Checklist
Some suggestions to "Do"...
  • Carton weight should never exceed 50 pounds.
  • Label all cartons with their basic contents and their designated room.
  • Seal each carton lid securely with packing tape. Be sure all items are well padded and fit snugly.
  • Pack computers and other delicate electronics in original boxes. Disconnect all wires before movers arrive.
  • Wrap dishes separately. Nest cups and bowls. Stand plates, saucers and platters on edge.
  • Unplug and secure all moveable parts on appliances and stereos with tape or special blocks.
  • Pack heavy items (such as books) in small boxes, lightweight items (such as linens) in large boxes. Carton weight should never exceed 50 pounds.
  • Defrost, clean, dry and deoderize all appliances prior to the move.
  • Use dresser drawers to move clothing.
  • Drain garden hose, coil and connect ends. Tie or tape garden tools together.
  • Keep hardware from dismantled items together and have tools handy for reassembly.
"Don't"...
  • Never pack heavy and fragile items together in the same container.
  • Do not use newspaper to wrap china or lampshades. It smudges.
  • Do not overfill or underfill a box. This will prevent the box from crushing or breaking open.
  • Never leave mirrors, framed pictures or breakables unprotected. Use a specially designed container or pad from them.
  • We generally will not move plants due to pest concerns, governing state laws and the unlikelihood of their survival.
A big "Don't"...
  • Never move LP tanks (full or empty), flammables, propane, aerosol cans or chemicals under pressure, caustic materials or explosives! Empty gas and other fuels from all equipment and containers.
